These two sites found my attention when scrolling on Instagram. A while before my journey I added them to my list of places to visit. 

South of Calais, the „Blockhaus d’Eperlecques“ was planned as a V2 assembly and launching station by the Germans. It is an impressive massive Bunker construction which was meant to produce the V2s in line and directly launch them.

Fortunately it had been damaged before becoming really operative and abandoned in this state.

The high cracks in the meter thick concrete walls give an indication of the destructive force of the Tallboy bomb that had been specifically designed for this kind of tasks.

I found it interesting how the people in the northern France have a relaxed relationship with this past. A sticker with a child wearing a bachelor degree and sitting inside a V2 invites to take part in the quiz. Unthinkable to do this in a German war museum.

A lot of various military material (vehicles, weapons and smaller items) including a V1 with the launching ramp are shown in the open air museum, as well as wagons in which dissidents were transported into concentration camps. 

On a good weather day it is a great visit for people interested in this kind of museum.
