Istanbul 2022

Istanbul, the cultural capital of Turkey situated at the boundary point between Eurpe and Asia, is an impressive metropolis.

In 2022 we visited city for the first time and I was overwhelemd by the proper dynamic that seems to run this mega city.

In Fatih, the district where we stayed and where most of the typical sites are, most of the roads are crowded with people during daytime.

No passage for cars - so all kind of material is transported by manpower: Houndreds of load carriers transport everything from our travel suitcases to all kind of goods, refrigerators and furnitures.

My impression is that this distrcit has a kind of collective, self organizinig intelligence - which is difficult to access for travellers. Bus and metro maps are not as evident as I know it from central Europe and sometimes we stated that metro or train stations already printed in the map did not yet exist or are not yet in service.

There are too many sights to mention them here and during our 8 days we saw a fraction of what a tour guide could propose. It is highly recommendable to keep some spare time when organizing a trip to Istanbul just dive into the pulsating life of this city and feel the strong pulse of  what I call "a microcosms of its own".

But now, enjoy some pictures and get a glimpse of the beauty, the multifaces of this city that is worth more than one visit.
